Festool New Tools and Price Increases March 1, 2011 4Every spring as the weather warms up, as the birds fly north, as parents start thinking about camp, Festool does a new tool launch and updates their catalog.

Midnight, March 1, is the witching hour and you will see some new cool tools and sadly, some Festool price increases. Our website has been updated with a couple of tools but the full update will be late on February 28 with everything new and new prices. The Festool warehouse has been very busy with the reconditioned tool promotion that I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, and they are still behind in getting new inventory out the door but we should have everything here very soon.

Here are the highlights: A new sander - the Rotex 90 DX( - this is a version of the Rotex sander with both coarse and fine sanding modes. It uses a smaller disk (90mm but the real kicker that made this sander a huge hit in Europe is that it comes with a triangular pad and a gear driven detail sanding mode. This is certainly one of the most versatile sanders Festool has ever introduced. The picture shows the RO 90 hanging from the new Workcenter WCR 1000 which is also very cool. The concept behind the workcenter is to allow you to do what we all do - which is pile up the tools for a job on a vacuum and roll it around the jobsite. The new workstation will give you the ability to organize more stuff, and keep all the tools for one job in one place.

Aside from those two items there is a lot of new stuff coming down including a whole new line of sandpaper and a great new folding portable base for the Kapex. I'll start writing about the new tools as I get practical experience with them. But the main reason for this blog is twofold: Keep your eyes peeled next week for the announcements and if you were planning a Festool purchase of anything important anytime soon, get your order in before March 1, for the old pricing.
If you have questions or want to pre-order just give us a call, as everything hasn't been put on the website yet.
